Il fiore lehua

Questo fiore è molto rappresentativo delle Hawai’i, si tratta di una specie vegetale presente solo su queste isole. Si dice sia il fiore preferito della dea Pélè, la dea del Vulcano. Infatti nelle varie rappresentazioni tipiche delle Hawaii, stoffe colorate, tele ecc, il fiore di Lehua non manca mai.
Nei canti e nelle danze sacre questo fiore, dal colore rosso intenso, viene spesso onorato per la sua caratteristica di nascere direttamente dalla lava. Il passaggio della lava genera delle condizioni normalmente molto ostiche alla vita. Il fiore Lehua è in grado di crescere e svilupparsi malgrado la lava creando nuove forme di vita e permettendo l’attecchimento delle altre specie vegetali.
